Learn Basic : Inside The Computer

On the last post, we learned about the basic parts of a Computer,  and in this post, we will take a look inside of the Computer.

What is inside your Computer?

1. Motherboard
2. CPU/Processor
3. RAM (Random Access Memory)
4. HardDrive
5. OpticalDrives
6. Video Card
7. Sound Card
8. Network Card
9. Bluetooth Card (Adapter)
10. Power Supply

How it works.

1. Motherboard

  • The Motherboard is the “main circuit board” of the computer, that connects all the parts of the computer together directly or indirectly.

2. CPU (Central Processing Unit)

  • The CPU (Central Processing Unit) also called as a processor, sometimes it is called as “the brain” of the computer.
  • Every time you open the program or whenever you press the key on your keyboard or click a button on your mouse, you’re sending an instruction to the processor.
  • The processor speed is measured in hertz such as megahertz(MHz) means million of instruction per second or gigahertz(GHz) means billion of instruction per second.
  • If you have a faster processor it can execute instructions more quickly.

3. RAM (Random Access Memory)

  • RAM is short term for Random Access Memory and this is your System Memory.
  • RAM is a hardware device that allows information to be stored in Computer, but it does not store the information permanently.
  • RAM is measured in bytes like MegaBytes(MB) and GigaBytes(GB). eg. 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB RAM.
  • The more RAM you have, the more things your computer can do.

4. HardDrive

  • HardDrive also called as Hard Disk Drive or HDD.
  • HardDrive is a non-volatile memory meaning it stores your files, data, and documents permanently.
  • This type of memory can store your installed program or files, data, documents, videos and pictures safely.

5. OpticalDrives

  • An Optical Disk Drive (ODD) uses a laser to read or write a data on disks, such as CD’s, DVD’s and now Blu-Ray Discs.
  • This drive allows you to play music, video, or open a program in a CD, also it allows you to create/store your own music CD’s or album, and store/backup the important files/data.

6. Video Card

  • Creates the image that you see on your monitor or sending graphical information to your monitor.
  • “A good video card can make a big difference in the quality of your graphics” and it is big important for gamers and in editing such as videos and photos.
  • Also referred as a graphic card.

7. Sound Card

  • also called “Audio Card”.
  • It allows the user to use of audio components for multimedia player or application/software.
  • Sound Card is responsible for what you hear using your speakers or headset.

8. Network Card

  • The Network Card allows your computer to communicate over a network and access the internet.
  • This is the responsible to give you an access to the internet.
  • Many motherboards have built-in network connection so you won’t have to install a separate card but a network card can also be added to an expansion slot.

9. Bluetooth Card (Adapter)

  • It’s support wireless mouse, keyboard, printer, and any wireless device.
  • Also called as “Bluetooth dongle”.

10. Power Supply

  • Supply the power or electric energy that computer needs.
